I put these two together on a whim and the male jumped her like flies on poop!

Congrats on that one, you gotta love it! Great looking male too, I have an overpowering weakness for nice split saddles.

thanks, it is his first time breeding and that always carries with it the potential for disaster....fingers crossed that is not the case. The female in the picture produced a small clutch of four last year even though she was not hibernated. Only tow of the four eggs went full term.

For some reason I nearly asked if this was his first year. I certainly hope all of my first time males respond the same way. Most of the group I'll be working with this year are young and inexperienced. Of the nine females only two are proven, and only one of the males. The younger females are all going into their fourth year this year and the collection has been in the cold room since the 6th of December, so I'm hoping for a little good fortune and at least a few nice clutches. If the young ones all at least make the right moves this year I'll be pleased even if I don't see good results.

Thats a nice lookin pair there Russ. I like both of them............thayeri.
I'm way behind you this year. Mine are just eating their first meal. It's been a cold winter here. Hopefully it will be a better year. Last year was tough.

well it is stink on poop but have you ever seen how fast the flies move on the poop once it hits the ground
Oddly enough I'm not trying to get an early start it's just working out that way. It was getting so cold here that I was worried I might lose some animals so I brought them up. Up in the sense that they were being exposed to temps in the mid 60s to low 70s. I sure hope fertility is better this year than it was last.
Russ
you'll be the second one to see the results
Thanks,
Russ
That's an awesome pairing Russ. You should get some beautiful babies out of that hook up.
