adult WC eastern milks

wolfpackh Mar 09, 2007 03:46 PM

I know where to catch gorgeous adults by the dozen but have yet to have one adjust to captivity and accept food. Only success I have had is w/ juveniles. I have tried various prey items, scenting, etc. fellow herpers I know have had the same problem w/ wildcaught adults. Any info is appreciated.

I have noticed this as well, and it isn't suprising as younger e milks have fed less, and are more adapt to trying new food items. where as older milks know what to eat, and what they like. I have caught many miklsnakes, and only a handful would switch to FT mice. and I've tried everything, scenting, salamanders, fish, etc. my advice is if you can't get them to eat within 2 or so weeks release them and try again. I'd personally keep the smaller ones that eat and raise them. my adults go off feed for no reason and there fore I feed them heavily when they do eat. they also tend to take smaller prey items. a milksnake that looks like it would take a large FT mouse may hold out for fuzzies. if you need anymore help on them Email me milkman13114@aol.com just put eatern milksnake on the heading. goodluck
