MTS/PTS Cage....IS this one good?

johndoe10688 Aug 12, 2003 07:23 AM

Is the iguana kingdom a good cage to keep MTSs in? It is a wire cage, so would it be possible to keep the humidty/heat requirements? How many could you fit in it? It is 32"x32"x61". I would want to get 2.

Thanks

It looks like a very good cage but would not be ideal for Monkey Tail Skinks. Glass aquariums dont work well either. Your best bet is to build your own. Humidity is a must for MTS and there would be no way to keep a constant level in an open screen or wire cage unless you lived in a climate that would support the right conditions, otherwise it is up to you to create and maintain the proper humid/temp condition for MTS to survive in.

Exactly the same!lol! But i live in Malaysia where the weather and temperature level are just perfect for MTS.Where i live is so hot that if i put my baby in a closed cage he would bake!lol!I dont know where you live but if your place is cold and dry this cage is not good at all! You must put your babies in a cage that retains heat and humidity!

"No detail has been overlooked in the design of this high quality cage."

Apart from the lack of a suitable spot for a basking lamp, no walls to allow humidity to be kept inside the cage, the fact that if the iguana wanted to climb and it fell, it could risk hurting itslef or possibly breaking a leg...

i believe the list goes on. My PTS vivarium is made from solid melamine coated plywood with a sliding perspex door (glass would be way too heavy for the size required)

It is 4ft long, 2ft deep and 5ft high (120 x 60 x 150cm) and this is for one specimen for now. It has shelves at different levels with hides placed in suitable spaces throughout the vivarium, with a number of plastic plants and vines throughout, with other climbing obstacles (thick rope etc)

I would sincerly suggest you biuld your own out of the materials i have used. It's a LOT cheaper to make one than to buy one, and only takes about a day to make. Think of the $200 you'll save that you can use for other things (thermostat, decoration etc)
