TSK Axanthics

tskinc Mar 09, 2007 05:03 PM

There has been alot of talk of late about the axanthics. So here are some more pics. This shows both of ours the charcoal and silver line. The charcoal looks really black with out the flash.

Wow I agree that Charcoal is sweet as hell -- looks like a Black Blood Python!

TomBarnhart Mar 09, 2007 08:27 PM

Wow, that charcoal is pretty sweet! Any good crosses in the making? Looks like it has some very nice potential.

Yes, it was used to make double het. pied axanthics.

Are the Charcoal Axanthics and Silver Axanthics from the same line of Axanthic?? ie: your line of Axanthic produces two distinct appearances

I've seen various photos of hatchlings from your line of Axanthic, with some hatchlings having some brown 'tones' while other hatchlings are gray/black/white with NO brown tones, leading me to further believe the Charcoal and Silver Axanthics were derived from the same line...

(Is your Snow an albino CHARCOAL Axanthic or Silver Axanthic?? I seem to recall reading that the Charcoals darken with age. Comparing photos of the Snow on your webpage to the updated photo posted here, it seems to have 'whitened' over time.)

Correct? Please excuse me if I'm wrong on this one. As each week/year goes by keeping straight on all of the BP lines and genetics gets more difficult.

Thanks for any info as well as the updated photos.

"Are the Charcoal Axanthics and Silver Axanthics from the same line of Axanthic?? ie: your line of Axanthic produces two distinct appearances"

Yes. When we first produced axanthics everyone wanted the lighter ones, so we kept the darker ones.

She has gotten whiter with age. The double hets. that produced the snow were produced by our original axanthic male, which is fairly dark, and our original albino female.

You are welcome.

They're both big, beautiful snakes. I love seeing em nice and chunky like that :D

I have to agree with everyone else - that Charcoal just made my jaw drop! It's stunning! There's really nothing else I can say about that snake except that I love it.

The Silver is one of the nicer looking axanthics I've seen. Not too browned out at all, which is exactly how I imagine an adult axanthic to look.

Awesome animals!

Hey Dan, Have you been able to breed out the browns, or do you still produce some when starting with silver parents? Those both look great, but I love the silver one.

We have been selectivly breeding the best with the best to produce the best looking axanthics possibble. I think most axanthics go through shall we say an ugly stage as sub adults. Then as they move into adulthood they get the nice good colors we all want to see. Sure sometimes you get one that does not look as nice as you would like but I would say the majority of them now are coming out really nice. The problem is selling yearlings that are in the ugly stage and believing that once out of the teenage year they really do look awesome. Evidence of this happening is seen in the snowball as it matured. The snows hatch out very white and with time you see where the yellow was and it gets tinted and then is disappears again. In natural light our snow looks all white with the flash you can see where the yellow was orignally. She hates having pictures taken and only sits still for like one flash and then there is no more getting pics. I think the one I posted is the best pic of her so far. We just have our fingers crossed that she does produce. But we should get some snows this season. We have our albino het axanthic breeding her and double het females and some others so we hope to have some more for you to see this summer.

Your photo looks dark. Do you have a photo of the animal where the exposure is more correct? Also, your photo does not look like the Charcoal but perhaps the photo is misleading.

the same price as your normal axanthics? Because that snake just made it into my top four. Clown, banana, charcoal axanthic, pied (in no particular order). If I got a pair of hets from your line, would I be guaranteed to produce charcoals or is your original male in some way special? Is there a specific ratio of normal axanthics to charcoals in a clutch or is it random?

TSKinc Mar 10, 2007 11:47 AM

They are all the same price right now. We have not line bred her to see what we would get yet as she is being used for other crosses at this time. It is in the genes it is just a matter if you hatch one or not.

CHARCOAL! The guy that said it looks like a black blood is spot on!
