MY boa is due around the 12th . she stays streched out one side or the other . looks bad as far as top end looking way to skinny.saggy skin .i havent noticed her drink any water in 2 monthes. she takes long breathes .inhales big and holds it for ever. she looks dead at times i have to open encloser and touch her to make sure shes alive.when i touch her she perks up for a few min. then returns to same way.is this all normal , am i just worring to much?

I'm not sure what normal gravid boas act like near their due dates - but has she defecated lately, at all? I had a boa that I thought was gravid and near her due date, but instead had an intestinal abcess for the last 2 weeks that she abruptly died from.

I'm sure other breeders here can answer if her behavior is normal, but if you have a good herp vet, I'd take her in just to be safe if she appears that labored in breathing... (I wish I had done so with mine but thought her swelling and getting skinny in the front end was normal, but she was acting normal... though the vet said such an abcess is rare).

Got any pictures of her?

The firt thing to realize is this... if she is in fact pregnant DO NOT MOVE HER!!! In other words, do not take her to the vet unless you absolutely have to. I have a very close friend who did that and the boa went into early labor as a result and all 20 something babies where born 3 weeks to early. Big pregnant females need to be disturbed as little as possible.

If she is gravid and she looks real skinny on top and real large in the rear that is a good indication that she is carrying a good litter with very few slugs. It is fairly normal to not see them drink much when gravid although they will normally drink alot right before ovulation. As far as the way shes laying it is probably to try to relive the pressure of the babys in there and that would also explain the breathing. Sounds like she is stuffed with healthy babys to me!!! When is her due date? Please keep us posted.

Oh sorry I saw the due date is the 12th that is good...as soon as she starts to look smaller in the rear almost not so gravid anymore expect the babys to come not long after.
