Hibernation?

atomicjade Mar 10, 2007 01:48 PM

I'm buying a tortoise tomorrow, but would prefer one that does not hibernate. However for tortoises that normally do hibernate, is it equally healthy to house them in normal conditions and not hibernate them? If not, I'll just go ahead and shorten my list to those that don't naturally hibernate in the wild.

Thanks!

One day the idea 'that hibernation is an adaptation to unfavorable conditions' will catch on.

The point is that hibernation is not a necessity. If you provide favorable conditions throughout the year all tortoises will do just fine and live long and healthy lives.
