How many do you have and do you have them in rack system , what are your temps, are they breeding????

ballfreak Mar 10, 2007 04:13 PM

in a animal plastics rack system. 85-88 temp hot side.

That sounds fine to me just wait them out they will feed when they are ready ball pythons can go a long time without food , this is a adaption that they have aquired due to where they originally involved from which is africa which has long periods of drought which means no prey items either.

My only snake that went off has been off since late Oct. early Nov. I had one a few years ago that went off for 4 months easy. I never cycle or cool them. It is the same temp and light cycle all year. They all just seem to sense the season and decide when to take a break.

went six months last year during which time he ate one medium rat with no ill effects. This year he has been off feed since sept except for one rat he ate after his first cop and a mouse and a small rat he ate last month. Another male went off feed for two months and now is on a regular schedule. In between them is every shade of the rainbow. Each snake is a little different when it comes to these things. As long as your snake looks healthy and is acting normal you shouldn't worry if it goes off feed in the winter.

I didn't know babies did that. All of mine were sub adult to adult when I got them and I haven't produced any of my own yet but I just kind of assumed babies wouldn't go off feed. He looks healthy.

I noticed that all of my bps weren't eating very well once it got colder outside even though I kept their temps and light cycle the same. Even my best feeder who would normally eat anything at anytime didn't eat for a month. The temps started warming a few weeks ago and everybody is eating great again.
