Live Plants

What kind of live plants does everyone use in their cages. Do you do anything with them before to make sure there are no bugs in the them?

Thank you

Jeff

I usually use pothos as they handle low light well. They also grow and spread making a nice look in the cage. I usually wash the leaves well and transplant them into new potting soil to make sure there is no insecticides or fertilizer in there. Bugs won't hurt anything.

Meg is correct. Pothos.

I use it in most of my cages. I rinsed down my starter plants years ago to wash off any insecticides.

And Meg is right on again as far as bugs go. Plants or perches that have a few "bugs" won't hurt a thing.

You should have florescent lights with plant light bulbs to help maintain plant health.

You can soon start new plantings and before long you won't ever have to buy a pothos plant again.

How often do you rotate them out? I have trouble with the plants getting trampled.

So far the pothos seems to be holding up well and as long as it seems healthy, I'll leave it in there. Fortunately pothos is a plant that loves low light and being a houseplant, doesn't require the UV that other plants need. Mine seem to be growing and I'll probably have to replant them in something bigger soon.
