Females living together. One nipped the other

Mattman May 21, 2003 11:09 AM

Hello. I had gotten two females in November since then they have been kept together without any problems of one dominating the other. They both grew up well both are 18 inches, one is just heavier then the other, but the smaller one never had a problem getting food. Last week i saw it happen once when the little one as the larger female tried to get by her she squared of as to not let her by and gave a nip on the back when the other past her. Today the same thing happened the smaller one gave a nip on the butt of the larger as she past. Both times it didn't phase the other as she just looked at her like she was nutts and kept on going to her destination. I also have to add that i know for a fact they are both female, so it's not a mateing thing. When younger the smaller one was always on top of the male that was housed with them at that time, and sometimes the larger female. She was never afraid of anything. Is this just her personallity, or should I be worried about the smaller one dominating the larger female who is a German Giant and is about 100 grams heavier then the smaller, and doesen't seem phased by the others nip. Has any body else experianced this with females that are housed together? I had planned on keeping them together forever, but i will seperate them if this is not a normal or Ocasional accurance. thanks for any help with this matter.

I find that there's always an alpha in beardies. Whenever you put two together, there's going to be a dominate one. In females however, it's not as apparent.

In my opinion, it's time to seperate them. Why take the chance of anymore damage?

Best of Luck.
