Just a heads up, one of my girls was out today, i live on long island and its 58 today.
An early riser. I usually don't see any here in new jersey until mid april at the earliest. I'll be out in the woods tomorrow for spotties I'll have to look for some box turtles too I guess
Yesterday I saw the wild Mexican ground squirrels out on our backlot.
Last year they came out about a week before Hobo did, he came out on St. Patrick's Day, that's the 17th. Today is the 13th so I expect to see him any time now.
It's neat when they show up isn't it? I miss them when they're gone.

Hobo just now made an appearance.. he's halfway out of the ground & still half way in.
I had to go clean tortoise poo a few minutes ago so I decided to go take a look at his area & there he is!
YAY I'm so glad to see him again!

They are out in northwest Georgia also. Lady came out walked to the new wading pond, soaked for about fifteen minutes, then returned to her brush and leaf pile under the deck. With temps coming in the mid 30's tomorrow (night time lows) I just left her alone. Can't wait to see Peeps and Sunny.
I checked today but did not see my box turtles. I cover them with a large (2 Feet or more ) pile of leaves. This keeps the ground cold when we get a warm spell. My turtles come out the second or third week of April. But i have one that is always last and comes out in May.
