Beardie Size Question

bigt3iii Aug 12, 2003 09:14 AM

Do beardies grow quickly when they are young? I purchased two hatchlings at the White Plains Expo this past April and they seem to be the same size. I have two other beardies but they were purchased when they were almost full size. I was just wondering if they grow quickly like dogs do or slowly. I know its a weird question but I was curious. And yes, they are well fed and their tank has all the correct requirements.

They grow very quickly as babies. Average tends to be 1/4" a week! Sometimes more!

If you're just doing this by the way they look you probably won't notice much. You should probably take their weights or at least measure them in lenght. My girlfriend didn't think ours was growing at all for quite a while. She'd swear it hadn't changed one bit, but people that only see the dragon once every couple of months always comment on how much it's growen since the last time they saw it. Although hatchlings, I would think, would have growth thats very noticible to the eye, it doesn't take them long to even double in size. Have they had a fecal done yet, if not you should probably do that soon.

Hey... hows it going...

I purchased my current beardie at the white plains expo as well...

do you remember who you purchased yours from? I purchased mine from Angels R' Us... its supposedly a Sunburst (the claimed both parents are from Dragons Den).

Cant wait to see what he turns out to look like... but mine is growing and eating very well (on any given day he'll eat up to 50-60 crickets) Mine is aslo growing (he actually is about to shed). I dunno if any of this is any help to you...

you can contact me if u'd like...

Lou
