post-hibernation

So I just took my snakes out of hibernation and fed them 24 hours later. Last year, my male did not seem as interested in breeding as I thought he might, but I had not cooled the colony as well as I had this year (lighting, temp, amount of time, etc). This is because I am located in jersey and my snakes usually hibernate naturally due to the weather and conditions of the room.
Now that they are out of hibernation: all my snakes are in one room. My male is on one side, females on the other adjacent wall. Should I put the male in another room? Someone suggested this to me, saying that he may smell the females. In past years they had been closer.
Also, anyone who breeds seasonally and feel like sharing: what kind of feeding pattern do you use when your snakes come out of hibernation? I've heard alot of different suggestions and I'd like to hear more.

Thanks for your time; I'm lookin forward to seeing offspring like two years ago!

Wow, I'm sorry I guess I was out of my element. I've got a colony of Honduran milksnakes.
