Zebra Cobra?

Buthid Mar 11, 2007 08:47 PM

I might just be dumb to this topic but, a friend got a new cobra called a "Zebra Cobra" he was told it is a morph of Naja nigricollis. I have never seen a black necked spitter like this. It is all brown with white zebra stripes; it hoods and spits any ideas? ( looks like a really ugly Andamans.

It's Naja nigricollis nigricincta, a very distinctive subspecies of Naja nigricollis from Namibia and Angola (not a "morph", which is basically a dealer's or breeder's way of trebling the price of his animals).

Cheers,
