separating balls after breeding

I have 2 balls that I took in that were abused and have just bred. I have had them a little over 2 year and they have always been together and I noticed they were trying to breed just this year. Now the female has just gone through a drastic color change so I am pretty sure she is pregnant. Is it ok to keep the male and female together when she lays or will I have a problem? Thanks
