Black Throat Sex

EvelynS Mar 12, 2007 12:59 AM

Hello,

I was hoping that someone here with more experience than I've got could help me to sex my black throat. This is the only black throat I've owned and I'm not experienced enough with them to differentiate males from females, though I would guess this is a male due to what appear to be hemipenal bulges around the vent. It is now four months old, I purchased him from Pro Exotics back in early January, at the time it was 2 and a half months old and 19 inches long. It's now 27 inches, and has grown roughly an inch a week since I got it. I really want this animal to grow to its full potential and any feedback on how this growth rate compares with others would be wonderful. I've included two full body pics so that the head can be seen to help with the sexing. The book was in the pic for an email to Robyn to help with the scale. Thanks so much for your help!

Evelyn

Hey

Id like to say with 100% certainty that you have a male .. hes got double buldges on each side...

But you cant always be 100 percent certain until you see the hemi's or you probe .. I dont recommend probing monitors... they dont readily accept it ..

But i would say male .. almost positive

Probing monitors is 100% inaccurate as females can go just as deep as males.

I'd say male from those photographs, but to be 100% sure, I'd need better head, and side tail shots.

Cheers,
Chad
