BP couple with a territory

Natrix_natrix Aug 12, 2003 10:20 AM

I heard this guy talking about his Ball couple he keeps together for some time now and they "guard their territory" (the cage).
Whenever he puts his hand into the cage they react offensively.
When they come out, they´re cool.
This happens all the time, not just some seasonal thing.
Sould this be due to feeding them in the cage and not in a "mouse death box" or are there other reasons?
My other thought is, this guy has a retic too, meaning, I don´t believe he´s nothing close to a beginner!

Sounds like the Pavlov effect... They hear the opening of their enclosure, and think 'FOOD TIME!!' Their behavior away from the enclosure shows their demeanor is tame when food isn't involved...
