you can introduce the male a few more times to insure her fertility. also don't know if anyone else does my hogs have been together in the same tanks for about 2 years and have had successful breedings the past 2 years and double clutched the first

Though I might misunderstand your question, I think the standard seems to be just putting them together for a few hours at a time, due to the relatively high risk of canabalism.

What high risk?????? No high risk with hogs except if you feed them together, and even then it is a feeding mistake!!

I leave my westerns together during breeding season. When the female is gravid the male looses interest and then I seperate them. During feeding time, I feed in seperate containers. My tricolors the same way. My easterns cohabitate the entire year. If I seperate the female from the male she gets real wacko. She was a WC rescue, and being placed with the male is the only thing that calms her down. When with him, I even feed her by hand.

that is how my male is. when he is by his self he goes crazy but right when i put my female in he calms down and follow her around . he won't even leave her side for a minute . But the good news is that they locked up 3 times in the last 2 days that i saw.

My experience is the same. I generally keep my male and female together except when I brumate them over the winter. It's funny because I can tell they generally like each others company. They are constantly in physical contact with each other.

I've never heard of a mating pair canibalizing each other.
