Hey
I hope this isn't too off topic but, I recently came across an ad for a male granite pastel, going for 5k, which got me wondering if maybe my little pastel was worth something, top pic is of pastel for sale, and bottom is of my pastel male, could he be granite? Let me know what you think.
Adam.

It will more than likely grow out of it.Thanks David

It is IMPOSIBLE for a snake to just grow out of it's pattern.Maybe it's just me but can you explain HOW they grow out of it lol?

So do you think that granite pastel could be worth something?

johnavilla Mar 14, 2007 09:53 PM

that there are two kinds of ball python that are called "granite".
Type one is a genetic granite which in my very novice opinion yours is not. These guys have a distinct spot break in their neck stripe an orangeish brown to their alien heads and shotgun blast speckling among other things. Type two, which I think yours is, are a random pattern variation with some light speckling. Either way, pretty pastel

"Can't you just feed it vegetables"? No, no I can't you stupid hippie.

Well let me see if I can put it so you understand . There are a lot of hatchlings that opera to be Granite and as they grow the speckling fades away and they CAN louse them all together . I have seen it happen lots of times , So obviously these are fuse or not genetic granites . I have seen it mostly in the normal’s from pastel clutches and a few from Black Back clutches but those are just the only ones I have seen personally not to say it can’t happen with others ,I just haven’t seen them with my own two eyes. I hope you under stand now OK. Thanks David of DS Reptile Rescue

David I understood you clearly the first time. This is what you posted.
(Hi! A lot of Balls hatch with a granite appearance as babies and grow out of the pattern as they mature . Being as they are not genetic Granites . Thanks David of DS Reptile Rescue)

Now maybe that is not what you where trying to say and I DO understand that any snake can fade,Darken or lighten as they mature but I stand by my statement that a ball python can NOT grow out of it's pattern.I have been keeping herps for about 30 years and have never seen a snake grow out of it's pattern.

David there was NO offence towards you in my post and if it came off that way I do apologize.
