A Mandarin named Clementine

drimes Mar 12, 2007 09:13 PM

Today is one of those days I am reminded why I love this hobby so much. Kathy got a few nice photos of one of our Mandarin boas, Clementine, after work today. This girl is not quite a yearling yet and I am simply blown away at the color saturation she shows at this age.

I can hardly wait until she's 2 years old and has her best color!!!

What do you think of her?

Sweet animal!
I remember the pics from just after you aquired her.
It looks like the orange is intensifying for sure!
Do they work genetically like the Pastels?

I cannot say for sure how the trait works Jason as I have not bred any Mandarin boas yet....BUT it was explained to me by the guy who bred them, that it works in a dominant fashion. The hets are visual hets and the Supers look like Clementine!

We shall see some day though. With any luck, in a couple more years, we will be able to produce some Mandarin boas and have more info on them.
