Possible eye infection in Viper boa.

Royreptile Mar 12, 2007 09:30 PM

I recently noticed that my Viper boa's eyes are very cloudy and white. Although, they do not appear to be leaking any kind of liquid or puss, I am worried it has an eye infection. I have had trouble with the snake before, as it is reluctant to eat. I assist fed it pinkies recently, and it reacted well to assist-feeding without an attempt at regurgitating the food.
By this picture does this look like an eye infection? How do I treat it?

Eye infections in snakes retain all the discharge behind the eye cap, which is why you don't see anything. Further examination might reveal that the colouration is actually withen the eye, and not on it. Either way, seeking veterinary help is a must to properly treat this guy. It may be linked to why your snake is a hesitant eater, as this might have spread from an oral problem.
