Thought I would share this new girl. Notice the amount of blushing she has, which gets more intense with each shed. She was produced from my Santa Cruz line of Super Pastels x Bumblee Bee. Steve

Just as addicted as the rest of you- this is the life
How would you get a Hypo from breeding a Super Pastel x bumble Bee (Pastel Spider)? It is a nice snake but wouldn't it just be a normal Killer Bee (Super Pastel Spider)??
Corey
???
Corey,
I agree with what you are saying, it is a bit misleading if this animal is truly not a genetic homozygous "Ghost/Hypomelanistic" to call it a "Hypo Killerbee".
BUT, at the same time, he definitely is correct in saying that the phenotype of this animal is hypomelanistic. There is definitely a severe reductions of melanistic pigment being expressed, which is the true definition of what a hypo/ghost is, but this is caused by multiple genetic factors (ie. spider and super pastel traits).
Hope this helps, and isn't it nice to know we are all correct, just confused in our discussion at hand?

I agree it 'looks' hypo. But the hypo look is surely due to a 'double-dose' of the Pastel gene. (Probably why some Pastel Ghosts look like Super Pastels, and some Super Pastels look like Pastel Ghosts.
)
EVERY KillerBee I've ever seen photos of LOOKS Hypo. And as the KillerBees grow, they fade more and more.
The eye-catching KillerBee posted in this thread looks identical to the first KillerBees produced by NERD a few years back.
NOTE: This post is NOT meant to criticize Steve's KillerBee. That animal is just that, KILLER.

I saw this snake in person this past weekend and she's very nice!
Corey, just to clear the air; many of my snakes from my pastel line due appear to have a HYPO condition, and it is proven to be co-dominant. The extreme blushing is from my super pastels, and I have NOT seen any others like this. This gene was expressed in this Bee, as her sibling does not show the same pattern. By definition, hypo is a reduction in black, which I believe expresses the blothing more. If u guys have a better idea what is going on, I have posted the super female who produced the Bee, so u can express your thoughts. Steve

That is a really awesome looking super but to be honest, looking hypo and being hypo are two different things in the mind of potential buyers. If I am a paying customer buying a hypo something-or-other baby, I expect that baby to have proven hypo genetics in its breeding. You can define the term hypo all night long but at the end of the day the person buying a hypo baby expects it to have a proven line of hypo in its genetic background.

Are there any "normals" from the Super Pastel x Bumblebee that appear "hypo"? The extreme blushing and "hypo"-like condition could also be a product of selective breeding/ luck: that you've bred some really good pastels...
