Very Cool Tiff, they are neat, I saw her on the gecko forum
just did not have time yet to reply to your post there, LOL
These guys are awesome, big cuties. Just be careful handling, I'm sure you know their skin tears real easy! There are many care sheets for them, I hear they do well in a chameleon screen type cage, and love fresh friuts, pollens, and honey, baby foods. So bring on the fruits,
I have not had any, but I keep a few types of geckos and I have read about the Gehyra's.
I wish you all the best with them. Have the male also?
COOL pic!

I'm not handling them much yet- unfortunately I couldn't snag any babies at the show so I got a pair of adult females; he had a pair of males and I SHOULD have gotten the male/female pair, but the girls were huggin each other in their little container... I couldn't split em up.
You can probably see in the pic that Jaya has a scar on her side where I'm sure something happened with a previous owner or a run-in in a cage or something. She's really skittish and hard to hold. Malay chills out and is more personable. I've only handled them twice (once to make their first crappy habitat, once to remove them from that crappy habitat and rebuild it in Cami's old screen cage). I figred I'd let them chill out and get used to the new surroundings before I made desperate attempts to pry them out and hold them.
Sounds like we were reading the same page. I got a cool recipe on one care sheet involving lots of baby food, some honey and a banana. I've offered crickets, but they aren't interested. Good thing they like fruit. They're addicted to apricot baby food. We share dinner. Spoonful for Malay, spoonful for Tiff...
So we'll see how that goes.
But this is a collared forum, lol- here's a question... is it a collared's natural instinct to want to brumate/hibernate, even if captive born/raised? (I'm not sure if those words can be used interchangably) Given my school/moving schedule, when everbody else is brumating their lizards, I'm packing mine up for cross country trips and apartment moves, so I'm really unable to put them down for a few months- lately (past few weeks, starting after Roz got over her noctural kick) they've been sleeping allllllll day. Roz will wake up for an hour in the morning and then go back to the cave and sleep. Hurley's up for a little longer, but instead of wolfing down 5 crickets he'll have one, maybe two, race around the cage a bit and then join Roz in the cave. I'm not sure if they're trying to tell me they missed their hibernation or if they're just lazy brats.
It's weird, I've gone from having collareds that would stay up all night if you left the light on to collareds that don't make it past 1pm. BAH!!
