Astro turf substrate

How it is with respect to smell?

I just bought some at home depot as per recommendation of my leos' vet. Does UTH heat flow through it ok? (I have a rheostat so too much heat isn't an issue, I'm more worried about not enough heat)

I have my leos set up in a rack with heat tape running underneath. I'm able to keep the warm side at 90 degrees, so the astro turf doesn't reduce the temp. I switched from paper towels to astro turf and haven't noticed a difference in smell.

Be careful though, because when I had Astro turf for my first baby geck, she got her little claw stuck on it and dropped her tail..

I had the worst experience with my first baby geck. So I decided to buy a juvenile instead.

I had similar issues with the carpet stuff bought in the pet stores. My leos would always stick to it when I tried to pick them up so I got rid of that pretty fast. I don't trust anything but paper towels for babies.

So far so good with this stuff. It's more like grass so they dont stick to it at all. I'm just worried about it smelling.
