Young Brazilian Rainbow Boas. PICs

Jeff Clark Mar 13, 2007 11:09 PM

Brazilian Rainbow Boas, Epicrates cenchria cenchria. These first two were born here in 2006.

This next one is a 100% Het Hypo produced by Celia and Sean at Exotic By Nature in 2005.

This next one is a 2002 female Walsh Clown Phase.

Dave,
..Thank you. How did shipping all those snakes go the other day? When I have three or four boxes going on the same day the shippers seem to screw at least one of them up. Things work out but it is stressful worrying about the snakes and hoping to give the customers reasonably good service in spite of the shippers.

I'll let ya know tomorrow, Dropped off 9 boxes to 9 different states today. Phew, doing that many at once definately called for a high level of organization. I premade all my boxes and labels. All the paperwork for each shipment was filled out ahead of time and checked twice. Of course there were a couple of last minute changes like home addy instead of work and hold at DHL office. Then each order picked and packed one at a time and the box identified with simple address label. The shipping form and all other paperwork inside. Hardest part was keeping everything straight at the shippers. New federal rules are each box is to be inspected by shipping clerk and yes they know I ship snakes.

Nice pics Jeff and the het hypo looks good. Is that W.C.P. female Santaremo's mom?
Bob

Jeff Clark Mar 14, 2007 02:04 AM

Bob,
...The Walsh Clown phase female has never reproduced. I do have Santarem in with her but have so far seen no courtship. She was not quite large enough last year when she was with other older males. This year is the first I have had Santarem with any females and he may not yet be mature.

Jeff,
Here's what you need to do. Seriously.
Start crossing these subs together to create the perfect Rainbow Boa. This is what should be your end result:
--Color of the Isla Marajo (lets not kid ourselves, we all like RED)
--Pattern of the Brazilian (OK, not the clown phase, thats just too out there)
--Size and head shape of the Peruvian (gotta like the boofy head)
--Personality of the Campina Grande (I think you said they were inquisitive and charming?)
--Hardiness of the Colombian ('takes a licking and ....')
and, most importantly, the price of a petshop corn snake (yeah, yeah, I realize the hard work and time, let alone the self loathing for undertaking such a project, but come on, it's a snake!).
Fantastic collection. Thanks for sharing. Now get cracking.
Paul

I don't know about you but where I am...pet shop corns run for ridiculously high prices. Maybe you want the price of a reptile expo corn!

Glad to see those 05 hets from Celia and Sean doing so well as yearlings. I believe I have a brother and sister (06 hets) to your het

On a side note I was thinking of what it would be like to cross that clown phase to daves hypo line.... hmmmmmmmmmm
