Caymanensis or Cuban?

KWE Mar 14, 2007 02:06 AM

I bought two cyclura off a guy years ago and they had their David Blair certs with them but I didnt know which was which. I guessed and sold one of them as a Cuban but now I think I may have been wrong, I have seen several forms of Cubans and I'm just not sure about this guy, I want him to be a caymanensis but I think I might be wrong.

I will go with cuban based on head shape though I am not smarter than a 5th grader

As far as head shape, jf could be correct unless diet at young age, and natural uv exposure cause or inhibit head elongation. I know some captive born ctenos and cyclura appear to have stubbier heads than thier wild counterparts. As far as color goes, it seems that they have a wide range from being either light colored with few markings to coloration similar to nubila. Caymanensis do appear to have lighter colored heads overall. Here are two of my males one is 5 years the other 10. Each was produced by D.Blair and are suppose to be pure.
