Hello everyone,
I just wanted to post pictures of my new baby sulcata! I had been wanting a tortoise for a long time, ever since I laid eyes on one. At that time, I was living in an apartment, and I knew I would be there for a few years, so I didn't think it was fair to get one then. I will be moving this summer to a house, so when I found an adorable baby at the Reptile Expo this weekend, I couldn't help myself! I got her a large Rubbermaid container with a mixture of coconut coir and calcium sand. Then I attached a UV light with a Reptisun 5.0 bulb, along with a ceramic heat lamp. I also got her Rep-Cal multivitamin and calcium supplements. I've given her lots of Timothy hay (that's all I have at the moment since I use it for my rabbit), but she is not interested AT ALL. She likes her romaine though. I ordered some mixed grass seeds online, so I'll start to grow that as soon as possible. Any ideas for picky eaters? I just adore her so much! I don't want anything to go wrong!

I know strawberries are bad! She just liked them!

I purchased seed and grew the grass right in the enclosure , it sprouted in three days, I have trim it back daily. But mine loves it.

Hi, I have a 5 year old and a new baby sulcata. When I got the baby (Echo) I expected it not to eat right. To my suprise it ate fresh cut grass right away. It will also eat Timothy hay and cut up hay(little pieces for babies) that you can get at Carolina Pet Supply (also get grass seed mixes here that I grow in kitty litter pans). Take what your little guy's favorite food is and cut it up real small. Put some of the chopped up hay on top of it. Add some water to the hay and mix everything up. Each day decrease the amount of his favorite not so good food. If you can get fresh grass this method will work better.

I like you set up it - looks cozy

How many quarts is the tub? I like your setup. What are you using for substrate?

I can't remember exactly, but I think it's a little over 100 quarts or so. And the substrate is a mix of calcium sand and Bed a Beast.
