Spilotes female

It's funny how virtually every pic I take of her you get the tongue. Even my girlfriend who's a little intimidated by all my animals commented how cool it is how she has that tongue protruded and in slow motion all the time. With regards to the display animal topic below, a 9-12' completely tame spilotes might be hard to beat. Can't wait 'till she grows up.

She's beautiful Don. Man...it's pictures and stories like that which remind me not to rule them out too quickly.

I do love that girl! And yeah, it really is cool how they wag their tongues all slow motion when they get really intense on something.

This is a snake I had gotten as an import. He had always bluffed without biting me. I put my Spilotes in outdoor cages and found that MOST of the Spilotes will bite, even my captive hatched, if exposed to real ultra violet radiation. They have the ability to cool down while outside by using a sub teranian hide. They prefer to bask and their body temps will approach 100F. It may be the higher prefered temp that gets um hyper but I do offer the Honduran Spilotes the ability to bask at high temps indoors so I will blame the behavior on real UV. I was bitten while doing this photo shoot.
