Mice Babies

Shelbyshea Mar 14, 2007 06:20 PM

We decided to start breeding out own mice since we have so many reptiles that can eat them. Ala Carte had her first babies this morning. I believe there were ten all together but didn't want to disturb them too mch right now.

Here's the before and after!

I just established a mouse colony AND a rat colony for my snakes... it's pretty fascinating. I just can't wait until all my colubrids are big enough to take rat pinkies instead of mice, since my mice seem to REEK no matter how often the cage is changed.

Plus, the ratties have better personalities by far!

I hear ya about the smell! I started using a wire hamster like cage, and thats cut down on the smell quite a bit. I'd prefer a solid cage, but i couldn't handle the smell after a day. The boys name is Buffet and we have one more girl called amuse busche. )
Our animals won't ever be big enough to take rats.. i don't think. I'm good with the mice.
How do you have yours set up?
