To Amy G : about python adolescence

dsp0008 Aug 12, 2003 12:46 PM

I just read your reply to my post in regards to my blood becoming unruly at a year and a half old. Check this link out, Dave Barker wrote about this in his "Mail Bag." I have a helix thermostat that keeps the temperatures in the cage just right, so I know its not the temperature that's making him a little on edge.

Pythons can and do go through an "adolescent" period where they can be more defensive/aggressive. I think the fact that my snake is a male doesn't help.

If you search the mailbag for python adolescence you'll find it real quick. Just wanted to clarify that there is such a thing and that its not because of bad husbandry.

Nothing to be too worried about, usually only lasts a month or two... i havn't witnessed it in all of my bloods, but theres still more growing for many of them.
infact, i have a male right nows whos in the middle of a little temper tantrum.

Hey,
They do require lots of patience and tolerance on your part, and they do eventually come around and tame down some. Keep at it and they will reward you with sweetness.
