First wild King of 2007 (for me)

FunkyRes Mar 16, 2007 12:43 AM

I'm actually looking for a female of this locality - but I want one breedable this season, so I did not collect - despite her being female.

My first wild Cal King of 2007:

She has some rather interesting pigment (think it is pigment) splotches on her belly

For those that care about such things:
29 bands snout to vent
two half bands (counted as 1 band)
no "Y" bands (though she almost has one)

Sex determined by tail geometry, I had probes with me but I was not going to probe a snake this small and then potentially release a damaged individual back into the wild if I screwed up with the probing.

Hopefully this is just the first of many finds for the year
I've found a plethora of western skinks already, so there's plenty of food supply :D

what general area did that Cal king come from?

You know the great board season is right around the corner. Just wait for them rains.

That's a super clean looking Cali! I gotta say, kinda looks like an Eastern as far as the banding goes. Very nice.
