Yes Jeff, I owned one in the past. It was given to me by a friend who moved away. It was a free roaming animal in a room in his house and would sit on shoulders, laps and eat from the hand. I continued to keep it as it had been kept in my own home and it lived a few more years and finally passed due to suboptimal temps(this was prior to the Retes days- we know better now...we should). The vets have a term for this, fatty liver disorder, disease, whatever... Rudis are tame though, even when kept with high temps and I have never been bitten by one (but I have never been bitten by salvadorii's either and I've kept them since 1995). Best to you- Mike

I've seen some pretty mean dogs!

As far as my Black Roughnecks? They are not "wild" but I wouldn't want my dog to have thier disposition either. They are not hateful~ they just rather I left them alone. They hiss~ puff up~ tail whip~ but they don't bite. Or at least~ they've never offered to so far. I try to minimize the excuses they have to consider biting me too! Usually~ if I have to take them out of the enclosures or move them for some reason they will make a show of looking and sounding like rabid dogs~ but allow me to pick them up and do whatever I need to with no more show than the hissing and puffing up. Unless they think I have food in which case they chase me with every obvious intention of catching my toes or fingers, biting and swollowing them!
