Kingsnakes will help control the overall snake population, not just venomous, including other kingsnakes. In other words, who's to say that the kingsnakes wouldn't eat each other before they ate the first copperhead.
The best way I've found to rid an area of copperheads is to do away with the things that attract them; rats/mice, piles of old lumber/tin, sealing off houses/building so they can't get in, etc...
What part of what mountains are ya talking about? I'm in the southern Appalachians and might be willing to travel a 'lil ways to catch/relocate rather than seeing them all killed off. I'll bet that if you were to kill 'em off, you'll see a population explosion mice/rats, which is most likely why the copperheads came there to begin with.
Have a good one!
