Sometimes there feeding response can be too strong...

This morning I was getting all my snakes ready for the long car ride back to college tomorrow. When I got to my male spotted python he was snappy as ever. So I carefully removed him from his cage and placed him on the bed while I got his snake bag ready. As I turned around with the snake bag, I watched in utter disbelief as he lunged across my bed and struck a dirty gym sock. He then immediately constricted. For 15 minutes after I attempted to convince the spotted that this was not his weekly meal (which had been skipped to avoid any regurg incidents on the trip). He remained locked onto the sock for the entire time readjusting his coils as I attempted to unwrap them and carefully pry open his jaw. Finally, after 15 minutes he just let go finally realizing that it was not worth the effort. Then as always he turned his attention back to me and made two attempts to bite me as I moved him into the bag. Anyway, he appears to be fine still and I checked the sock over. There were no teeth embedded in it so I think everything is fine, until I get to school and have to open the bag up again.
Thanks for your time,
Chris

I'm worried now. I was planning on getting a trio of Spotteds. Is this what I have to look forward too. Do I have to make sure all my socks are hidden before handling them? LOL

I placed the female in the same place as the male just a few minutes before then and she showed absolutely no interest in the sock. I guess he is just one of a kind.

Hey Chris... I see that you have two spotteds, a childrens and several stimsons. Which do you like the best, and are both your spotteds nippy?

Thanks,

...if he constricted it that long, it must have smelled live LIVE rodents. Scary...
