Why can't you put snakes together unless there ready to breed?
Snakes are solitary by nature. At the least more than one snake in the same cage can cause stress-at the most one will eat the other with size difference not much of a factor. Spreading diseases is also an issue. Two males will fight as they mature.
Feeding is a real problem with keeping more than one snake in the same cage. If you feed inside the cage, which I highly recommend, both snakes will go for the same food item. Removing a snake to feed outside the cage has many negative isues in itself as teaching large constrictors that they might eat every time they are taken out is not a good thing. And moving a large constrictor back to its cage after eating is more than dangerous. Once back in the cage the snake that just ate will be in feed mode and could attack its cage mate. Also food scent on the snake that just ate could trigger a response from the other snake(s). Bottom line: keep snakes separately. Bill.
