Galaxy Bullsnake??

schhbabe Mar 17, 2007 08:17 PM

Folks,

The snake in the attached picture is the latest herp addition to our home. She was sold to me as a "Galaxy Bullsnake" but when I Googled the name I couldn't find any snake by that name.

She is about 7 ft long, with a pronounced triangular shape body. Each dorsal scale has a longitudinal ridge, giving it a rough feel.

Any idea what species this snake really is?

Well, it's not a bullsnake.
The common name for that one is Tiger rat snake. The latin name is Spilotes pullatus.

Not a bullsnake in any way. I'm a bullsnake hobbyist and breeder myself and I've never heard of a "galaxy bullsnake". Its a tiger ratsnake and it will probably get much longer than seven feet. Its a good thing its handleable!

i found a snake similar to that, but looked more like a california kingsnake. it's stripes were more bolder and thicker, not faded away at some spots
