I'm going to the Miami area tomorrow and will be venturing off into the swamps. The everglades are pretty massive so I not sure exactly how to go about herping here. There is the actual national park to the south, but I hear people there will arrest you if they see herping tools, and then there is all the swamp just above the national park around Alligator Alley. Is any specific part of the everglades more productive for snakes? Will there be any dry areas, and if so, will there be snakes on the dry areas too or just the water and water edges? Is Alligator Alley a good highway to cruise and seek out spots on the edges? And just how common are snakes there...like can I expect to see over 20 if I'm doing constant searching for 3 days? Any help would be much aprecciated.
Thanks
I will post pictures when I return.
