I got a call to pick up a pygmy rattlesnake here it is.

Nice pygmy! I'll bet he was probably rattling the heck out his little tail doing his best impression though!
He doesn't really look like a yellow though - more of a grey rat or black rat baby. Where did you collect him?

Central Florida. He will turn yellow gradually. Unless he is someone's escaped gray rat. Here's an adult from this area.

I guess definitely a yellow then! The ones down here in South Florida tend to have much lighter splotches and background color than the ones up in your area. The one I posted was one of the darker ones from last summer's clutch. Here's one of the lighter ones. Good luck with the little guy!
