JCP Not Eating. How long is to long?

snakesnmore Mar 18, 2007 09:33 AM

I have an adult JCP who hasn't eaten since end of December. He usaully stops eating during the winter months but starts eating again towards the end of Feb. He has never gone this long. He's lost very little weight and is still very girthy. Temps and humidity are the same and haven't been changed. Seeing him go this long without eating is just a nail biter. If this goes on for a couple more weeks I'm taking him to the Vet.

For the most part, I don't worry about adult, acclimated, healthy males. He will eat when he wants too...
Sometimes it can be somewhat tricky to get males started again. As long as their are no mites, signs of RI, etc...I really wouldn't worry.

my adult female just ate two days ago for the first time in about 6 weeks. She didn't seem to lose any weight during that time, just wasn't intersted in food items offered her. She ate three small sized adult rats two days ago, so all is well.
