Does not look good, need info!

I have a 8 year old Butter Corn that has not eaten in about five weeks. The Reptile store I go to is owned by a very knowledgeable person about snakes. He said that because it was a male it is very common for them to stop eating instinctively at this time of year. I kind of shrugged it off to be a normal occurance.

Last night when I looked in his cage I noticed that he has lost his dark coloring and he looks almost like a bleached color, and his eyes look very whiteish, almost like he would be blind now. Since he hasn't eaten in 5 weeks, any kind of a shed would be out. There was also a light brown discharge which I would have no idea which end it came from, nouth or anal.

Being the week-end the Vet is not in the office, and the Vet that is playing back up left a message that he does not handle reptiles.

Question: What does this sound like? Does this sound like a natural death is coming at any time, or does it sound like something from the inside, disease like that he might have???

He's right!,...many males do stop eating this time of year in search of a mate, this is very typical..........As for the clouded/white eyes......that's normal too, he's in his "shed cycle", and he'll slough his skin several days after his eyes totally clear...........as for the discharge,....just is probably a stool!.........just relax,...I think everything is absolutely normal!.................................Doug

I agree with Doug, It is probably nothing to worry about. Give it a little time and see what happens. But keep an eye out for weight loss or any other abnormalities just in case.

My 03 male went over 10 weeks without eating, since Jan 4. He went into "blue" last week and shed a couple days ago. Last night he finally ate again after almost 3 months of no eating.
