i bought a malayan about two months ago and i had her in a 28" X 13" rubbermaid tub with about 5" of water in it heated to about 81 degrees. she has a basking spot that is about 5" X 5" she's only about 4" long. could someone please tell me if this is a good setup for her?

thank you
Jen

well its not bad for a start but its pretty small unless she is a hatchling.
if she's more than 4 inches long i get her something at least 4 feet long and 2 feet wide, but the bigger, the better.
ambos like to wander around on the bottom and also on the land.
a stock tank or kiddie pool or feed trough or aquarium of about 100 gallons would be more appropriate housing for an adult.
make about 1/4 odf the area land by using some good clean topsoil and planting some plants in it.

when i had ambos they ate anacharis, grapes, melon and worms. they got fish only about every two weeks. the small ones were fond of insects and blackworms as well.

well,
you can get a kiddie pool at most big toy stores or wqlmart k mart type places.
or gop to lowes or home depot or some other home improvement store and get a garden pond they have sizes from like 25 gallon to well over 400 gallons preformed.
or get a stock tank ot BIG rubbermaid thing by reading this message (and following the links therein)
