This girl will be added to the breeding group for the first time this year. I hope she breeds as well as she feeds. Randy W.

This girl does not have a lot of orange but I love her light, clean background color and reddish-chocolate blotch color in the lower body. Randy W.

Beautiful animal there Randy!
Hey, is there any way to tell by looking at a baby jani whether or not they will come out high yellow like this one shown? When I picked mine out years ago, I was wanting an orange head, white neck, and then yellow last third of the body, which I was able to do so succesfully with my 2004 male. Any certain details on picking out a future high yellow specimen, such as this one shown?

Thanks Billy. As you know there is no guarantee but this is what I have found to be good guidelines to pick by. The babies with the lightest and cleanest upper to mid body seem to have the closest to white or light cream upper to mid bodies as they grow. The lighter babies with the more orangish heads seem to get the nicest orange heads as they age. The lighter babies with more orange on the head and down into the neck and upper body seem to grow into the most orange adults overall through out their body. Same goes for the lighter background babies with more of a yellow tint in the head and neck tend to grow into more of a yellow background adult over all than orange. The darker background babies just dont seem to have as much orange or yellow show as they grow and also seem to have more tipping as adults. One other thing I noticed is that babies with a darker ring around the outside edge of their blotches tend to have the darkest black blothes as adults on their upper bodies. You can see some of these suttle differences in these hatchlings right out of the egg. I hope I am making a little sense here. Later, Randy Whittington
