Anyone ever have a baby/young tortoise with a soft, almost mushy shell, but nothing too horrible? If so, did you fix the problem or did it eventually die? If you did resolve the issue, how did you do it? Lots of sun? Extra calcium? etc??.........

I had the same problem with a leopard hatchling that I had. The shell wasn't just soft if was almost see through. I had it for 2 months and even had it stay three nights at a vet but to no avail. The leopard died 2 days later at home. I think it was due to hatchling failure syndrome. Sulcata station has good information about this including symptoms. I also found this

Not too sure what you mean by " not too horrible " but if they aren't listless and still feeding, you could try some Mazuri in moderation, our hatchlings usually hardened up quite rapidly compare to their siblings on regular diet.
