IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

MARK FARRELL Mar 19, 2007 09:36 AM

Hello all: To my surprise, My four year old Eastern Dropped 5 eggs yesterday. I'm sure they are not fertile since I had not seen her hook up with my male at all, despite numerous efforts of the male. but, just for kicks I figured I'd include a photo of the eggs. Please feel free to take a look and give me your thoughts.
Indigos are wonderful snakes. but, they are very frustrating to get to breed. I've been trying for years with solid advice from many of you. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Thanks, Mark

I'm, of course, completely ignorant when it comes to breeding Drymarchon, and this may be just hopeful, but I'm not sure I'd necessarily give up on a couple of those eggs. The two in the middle certainly look good to me. I'm assuming you actually did put them into incubation just to be sure...or at least I'm hoping so. That's the funny thing about snake reproduction, we don't always get to see them doing the deed and they don't always stay locked up for hours and hours. Anyway, I'm not trying to get your hopes up, but I'd certainly give those eggs a shot just to be sure!

Yup, I would absolutely incubate them until they hatch or rot. Give em a shot for sure!

Hi Chance : I do have them incubating. The eggs are not large. As you saw. Two look fairly good. Still a long shot. I'm going to give it some time. In the past, the eggs go bad pretty quickly

Sometimes snakes will kick out some slugs just before they lay good ones so keep an eye out.

Thanks: I had the same thought. I did give her a good 'feel up' and I didn't feel anything else inside her. She chowed down four F/T med mice last night. So, I think She is egg free.

Thnaks, Again.
