?ladder tails?

EvoMorphs Mar 19, 2007 09:40 AM

Is the latter tail a het trait that can be passed on or is it just a random thing that happens and it seems that many ladder tails are from the suriname line of boas. It this true or not.

It is not a "single" trait but a combination of a few. To breed for it is akin to breeding for high saddle peaks or redder color. You can selectively breed for those things by choosing animals with the "look" you like and breeding them together. However, in the end there will be babies with the desired characteristics you were looking for and some that don't (and there would be varying degrees in between). It isn't like, say, albinism where you know that specific animals carry that gene and will produce that trait repetedly.

I hope that helps.

I have a ladder tail columbian here. I believe his parents were produced by Jeramy Stone. Parents were DH snow so that makes him 66% dh snow. He was breed to my het albino and expecting babies soon. I was not able to find much info on this gene except someone had a ladder tail columbian anery and breed it to a albino some time ago.Not sure if these are the same line's as my male. It seem's to work as a co-dom but never found info if thires a supper. I'm hoping more info has been found on them because I really like the look's of them and believe thire more than meets the eye.
