Bullseyes are not recessive..

JustinMitcham Mar 19, 2007 11:05 AM

The bullseye pattern is a line trait nothing more, you cannot breed 2 bullseyes and get 100% bulleyes or have an animal that is Heterozygous for the trait, there are also varying degree's of the pattern , some borderline some nice some exceptional. You can breed a bullseye to a normal and produce some bulleyes or none at all. I have been breeding bulleyes for almost 10 years now and produced a few hundred of them. If you want a true recessive aberrancy then a striped or striped albino would be what your looking for.

My post above should read "you cannot breed 2 bulleyes and get 100% bulleyes all the time" I have bred bullseye to bullseye and almost every clutch is mixed.

You're right!,....for some reason when I posted about this earlier, I got the bullseye/stripe trait crossed-up..........so thanks for straightening that out!

So you are saying these are not recessive? Just a simple aberrant pattern?
