Found this little critter in my house last night, I also live in Arizona if that helps:

Looks like a ground snake. Eats spiders, centipedes, insects, ect. Harmless of course. Ground snakes have a huge variety of colorings and patterns so they can be hard to identify. They don't do that well in captivity though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong (its happened before). Its definitely not venomous though, that I know for sure.

Yes,....it is indeed a Ground Snake(Sonora semiannulata). They are harmless and seldom get bigger than sixteen inches in length. ......They feed on spiders, scorpions,and other insects and larvae.......I've also read that they don't do real well in captivity, and are best left to experienced keepers. That's a shame they don't do well in captivity, cause that one is awesome! I've only seen pics of them in a few books, and none looked as colorful as that one!
