Naturalistic Enclosures Question.

BSleeper Mar 19, 2007 06:23 PM

I am going to be setting up a cage soon for a crested gecko i plan on buying in the near future. I plan on setting it up naturalistic but have a few questions first. What plants should i and should i not use? Is there any that they really like or dislike? Also should i buy the plant itself or should i plant the seed and grow it myself? Also does anyone have pics of their naturalistic enclosure?

I am also going to set up a cage for some crested. I have my cages already, but when looking into caging ideas I got diverted to another website, and decided to make a cage for some poison dart frogs first. :P I suggest you check out the following forum for some ideas on crestie cages. www.dendroboard.com

In regards to plants, common pothos is supposedly a strong grower and impossible to kill. With that, it's also super cheap and trails down, so if you made a background in your cage and planted it there, it would give you some nice climbing areas. I've also been told to use creeping fig, and some other philandroden. Basically house plants that you can get rid of when they get destroyed by the crestie.

Buy the plants, growing them would take you an age. There are a ton of websites online that sell plants, and you can usually get some stuff from Home Depot or Lowes.
