A few questions though. Am I reading that right, that for breeding you drop the night time temps into the 60's? Also when they refer to a "hood" do they mean like a hog nose? I've often wondered what makes a black head a python in the first place. Aside from having spurs the seem more colubrid like. This hood thing makes them seem even more colubrid like.

Pyhons are more primitive than colubrids, and Aspidites are some of the most primitive pythons.

I wasn't saying that they are colubrids just that they seem more colubrid-like than python-like. The thing that confuses me about them is that the head structure, scalation on the head and lack of heat pits don't seem consistent with python morphology. The hood thing confuses me too. Did they mean that they have a hood like a hog nose?

I believe the hood is what they are calling the black color on the head and neck.

natural history section on the site you gave me and read that a little while ago. Thanks again for the link.

"I wasn't saying that they are colubrids just that they seem more colubrid-like than python-like."

I realize that. What I was saying is that although they may "look" colubrid, they are very primitive. Like Calabaria.
