How's those babies????

diggy415 Mar 20, 2007 09:25 AM

Hard to believe almost a week is here and mine just ate last night in her cage sometime during the night so that just means more non holding time.I thought about changing to a shoe box but don't want to restress her out, so will leave her as is, just good to see she ate.

P.S. See my sig David??

She'll settle in just find in a couple weeks. You got to think that she was born and a given a nice shoebox for as long as she can remember and then was put in a box by this BAD MAN (jk Dave) and arrived and came out the box and saw YOU haha After she eats and finds that heat to digest the food she'll be aok. I'm sure you got a hide or two for her but remember they like real small places to hide rather than the large open hides and they can fit into anything them things but you got to love them. Nice pic and the best of luck.

Good news, eating IMO means stress level not too high. One other thought, you have her in a glass aquarium. She's used to being in a drawer with only one side clear and it's usually opaque from condensation. Also in a VERY low traffic area, the snake room. I'm usually the only one going in there and during the week only for breeding checks and daily check/clean of all cages. Where is your aquarium? Maybe if you covered at least three sides with something opaque? It has to be something to do with the new habitat, I was just cleaning last night. I still have 11 of my 2006 babies (most still waiting for weather) and I fed/cleaned all and not a nip out of the bunch. Not even what I would call an agressive stance, just mellow babies getting moved around. I also have the Genesis clan (5.3 babies) and all of them are also mellow.

Yeah, I had already noticed your sig, Much better!

alright for me, wow abbi is gorgeous. My friend just held mine(havent named her yet) and she was very calm with him and diddnt strike once he put her back in her cage I put the screen top on and she tried to strike the screen top and then he made a fast movement around the cage and she struck at that. So I think I just had her confused and I bet the night that she struck at me was just because of fast movement. I am going to try to feed her tonight and hopefully have a little handling session before that. Diggy I had a question that I was just curious on your 10 gallon how you keep humidity in.

Hi guys thnks for all the encouraging news on the siblings, i just got done reading the "drunk snake" and the 10 gallon with screen lid comment by dave. I have her in that with a towel over the top with a hole cut out for the lamp. She has a moss hide and cypress bark and i pour water in once a week and stir well, the temps are as follows: Humd 70 Heat 80, i took the reading in my shoe boxes for my other boas and they get condensation and read as follows Heat: 70 Humd 75 i think i will put the BRB in a shoe box, but wasn't sure of that after she got settled in with her new cage and then having to rehouse, but now that she just ate, would it be ok to shoe box her as i can't handle her as it is, or should i wait for another week to do a house transfer. i have a 60wtt bulb on the tank also. If i can move her gently to a shoe box tonight then i wll, as i won't handle her per say due to feeding, just transfer. Just less stress way is all. will wait for advise on moving.

Couple of comments for you....

"i took the reading in my shoe boxes for my other boas and they get condensation and read as follows Heat: 70 Humd 75"

Temp Gun? IMO the best "tool" I have for caring for my collection.

Temp of 70 is a bit low for BRB's (my tubs are 77), your other boas should be even warmer

Shoe box would be fine for BRB and "moving" is not a real issue. Moving is not to be confused with handling. I feed many of my snakes in seperate tubs and of course, when done, I have to move them back. Never had any problems with moving them back, just be gentle and supportive.
