design,light, & heat...

eltrut0 Mar 20, 2007 10:45 AM

I've been trying to design a setup for my reptiles ( bearded dragon, dhl, blood and ball python, and iguana). The beardy and dhl are pretty much full grown so this will be their permanent habitat. I want it to be like one giant entertainment center of reptiles, something on wheels I could move around easily. I'm not quite sure what I should use for heating everyone, how to keep everyone at the peronal temperature, would wood be a bad choice for something like this...Any suggestions would very appriciated... thank you.

What is a "DHL"? I can only think of a Desert Horned Lizard, but I'm guessing it stands for something else.

And are you trying to make a large one piece unit that will have individual "pods" for each specimen? Or do you mean individual cage stacks for each species.

Do you have a picture or a sketch of what you are trying to do? One thing I recommend is to find a jpg file of graph paper online, save it to your desktop and then opening it with paint and drawing a basic sketch. You can then post that sketch here.

Otherwise, keeping each animal at the correct temperature can be dealt with one way or another with thermostats, radiant barriers, etc.

Here is a graph paper image that I like to use with paint.

That will be helpful, especially since we don't know how big you need each "pod" to be. Iguanas and Bloods can get pretty large so it will be helpful to know what your current needs are.

Look forward to seeing the sketch.
